THE BRIDGEWATER-SERPENTINE road has been closed at Salisbury West after winds brought down the powerline.

Live wires are across the road and police have arrived at the scene near the old Salisbury West school.

The fallen lines were reported soon after 8.30 tonight (Sunday) but witnesses say cars continued to drive over wires until police arrived. 

Meanwhile, an estimated 3500 customers between Woodstock West and Lockwood are without power with supply expected to be restored by 11.30pm.

Winds for a third evening have also blown smoke from the major Grampians fire across Loddon communities.
