YARRAWALLA’S hall was filled with people on Monday as about 60 members of the Hercus family came together for their first reunion. The event was organised by Owen Rule who said he was pleased with the turnout from his relatives. “I had been wanting to organise something for a while. Then the first adult in our generation passed away last year and that prompted me to organise a catch up for all the cousins,” said Owen. Family members travelled from across the country to attend the reunion. One person drove from Darwin, others travelled from the Sunshine Coast, Tasmania and South Australia. While they have since moved all over the country, almost all of the Hercus cousins grew up in Yarrawalla. “It’s a very relaxed day and a great way to catch up with everyone” Owen said.
