WORKING old goldfields between Inglewood and Wedderburn on Sunday unearthed a golden find for one weekend prospector.
The amateur miner discovered a 4.6-ounce nugget and later showed his find to Catherine Norman at Fusspots in Inglewood.
He was among many prospectors and detectorists who have been searching for gold in bushland and creeks this spring.
Steve McCurry has been visiting family in Wedderburn and took his prospecting pan to the Korong Creek where several specks were separated from creek bed sediment.
He has been making regular visits to the old Wedderburn goldfields since getting the bug 15 years ago.
“I try both panning and detecting in the area and often find some specks,” Steve said.
