1 min read

A FLOOD watch alert has been issued for the Loddon River.

There could be minor and isolated moderate flooding overnight Wednesday.

ViucEmergency says:

  • A deepening low pressure trough and cold front will cross Victoria on Wednesday and track eastwards, bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to the northern part of the state.
  • Catchments across central and northeastern Victoria are average to wet, and catchments across the northwest are relatively dry.
  • Widespread rainfall totals of 30 to 40mm are expected in the flood watch area from overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with isolated heavier falls of 70 to 100mm possible with thunderstorms and in areas with higher terrain. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to ease into Friday.
  • River level rises are likely in catchments within the flood watch area, where minor flooding may develop from overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Isolated moderate flooding is also possible in areas with the heaviest rainfall.
