ST MARY’S Primary School has had an incredible year, marked by enthusiastic student engagement and dynamic community partnerships.
Tyler McEwan, James Rollinson  and Ruby Scolari - the school’s three graduating Year 6 students in 2023 - have displayed that enthusiasm and were farewelled at a special Mass last week ahead of their transition to secondary school.
Principal Stephen O’Shannessy said St Mary’s took pride in its unwavering commitment to delivering a quality education. 
“The school’s approach has embarked on evidence-based practices, ensuring that teaching methods, curriculum design, and student engagement strategies are grounded in the latest research and educational best practices.
“One of the key elements of St. Mary’s success in community engagement is the proactive involvement of the Parents and Friends Group. This dedicated group has worked tirelessly to strengthen the bond between the school and the local community.
“Through various initiatives and events, they have successfully created a vibrant and inclusive environment for students, parents, and residents alike.”
He said the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship has been particularly noteworthy, with students actively participating in the Loddon Landcare initiatives.
Through hands-on activities such as tree planting at the Morning Star dam and community clean-up events, St. Mary’s students have not only learned about the importance of preserving the environment but have also actively contributed to the well- being of the community.
“St. Mary’s Primary School has always been at the forefront of encouraging innovation,” he said.
“The participation in the Return to Energy Breakthrough competition demonstrated our commitment to nurturing young minds with a passion for science and technology.”
