LEANNE and Mal Burge have been praised as community-minded business people following the end of 16 years as Wedderburn’s newsagents.
The couple officially handed over distribution of newspapers and magazines to 24 Karat Cafe on Sunday.
Former employee Rosie Isaac said: “They are great people, community minded and have done a lot for the town behind the scenes.
“They helped people when they could even going so as far to deliver goods to ones who were stuck at home.
“I will miss working for and with them and certainly have made friends for life.”
While retiring from the newsagency, Leanne and Mal are continuing to operate their general store and V/Line ticket agency until announcing a formal closure of the business later this year.
The store is also selling stationery and gift items.
