RUBY Cullen has claimed silver at the Victorian Country Long Course Championships.
The Calivil youngster also improved her personal best time by 2.15 seconds in the 13-year-old girls 100-metre breaststroke to take out silver for Bendigo Hawks Aquatic team at the Traralgon carnival.
Ruby was part of a contingent of Loddon swimmers in the Bendigo Hawks’ contingent. Also making the trip were sisters Georgia and Lucy Pascoe, Jack Hocking and Keira Tuohey
Marley and Gus Addlem swam for Bendigo East.
More than 600 swimmers attended the championships from 32 clubs across country Victoria. Marley had a huge meet with nine individual swims and four relay swims across the three days. Her best result was fourth place in the girls 16 to 17-year-old 100-metre breaststroke narrowly missing out on the bronze by 0.09 seconds.
Brother Gus swam in five individual events and four relays taking out a bronze in the 4x50 14 and under boys medley relay for Bendigo East.
Bendigo Hawks swimmer Jack Hocking also had a large number of swims with five individual swims and four relays.
He successfully made the finals of the boys’ 11 and under 50-metre backstroke, 50-metre butterfly with his most successful event being the 50-metre breaststroke where he also narrowly missed out on bronze to finish fourth.
Lucy showed massive improvement at the championships with a huge 10.58 second personal best in her 100m breaststroke to finish 10th overall in that event. She also competed in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly where she had top 20 finishes. She also competed in the 12 and under 4x50-metre freestyle relay and the 4x50-metre medley relay.
Georgia swam the 100-metre backstroke before teaming up with Ruby to compete in the relays.
Georgia also combined with local Keira to compete in the girls 4x50-metre freestyle and medley relays.
