WHAT a super weekend and great crowds to usher in the new season - and should have taken an extra brave pill and punted firmly on the draw that was played out at Rodeo Park between Calivil and Maiden Gully.
Both these sides have risen a bit on last season. Who’s better than a rising soufle will take a few weeks to work out.
Although, the next indication on the Demons will emerge when they head across the Prairie Plains this Saturday to meet Mitiamo.
Has it been another tough off-season for the Superoos? Are the stocks matched with quality that has a hint of the skill of new coach Luke Lougoon?
I think it will be Calivil by maybe 18 points. No confidence here for it could be another draw.
The real cracker of a game will surely be Bears Lagoon Serpentine up against opening round “winners” Inglewood. The Bears looked clunky last Saturday while the Blues will surely have the tails up after leading Marong at times. The weather forecast says 30 degrees - sadly still no rain on the horizon - and this will suit a younger, fitter Blues - sorry Tubby!
The 2024 grand final rematch has Marong and Pyramid Hill and Panther Park. The visiting Dogs have done okay in this Herrick Cup meeting in the past and a few less introductions between players this week (they’re all real mates now), I’m going for Pyramid by eight points.
In the other match, Bridgewater should adjust to the playing conditions at Camel Hump Oval against Maiden Gully. Eagles are better but Mean Machine’s slick.
